This is part seven on an on-going series concerning Daesung's car accident incident. To read earlier posts, click here.
Well, looks as if Daesung's actions did end the life of the motorcyclist:
As I wrote in a message to a dear friend, this is not easy for fans of BIGBANG:
For the record, I do consider myself a VIP - a hardcore fan of BIGBANG. For anyone who has seen my last.fm page recently, you would know that BIGBANG is nearly my top listened-to artist. I have all of their songs, I use their calendar, and I have their poster hanging in my room. I love their style and, obviously, I blog about them more than I probably should.
But, I think that justice is more important than this musical group that I enjoy. I "support Daesung" in the sense that I support a fair trial with an unbiased jury. I "support Daesung" in that I hope that his punishment - if one is found in trial to be fair - is just. I "support Daesung" in the sense that I hope no one unnecessarily harshy punishes him simply to make an example out of his case.
Well, looks as if Daesung's actions did end the life of the motorcyclist:
On June 24th, the Seoul, Youngdeungpo police revealed, “Hyun, the deceased motorcyclist involved inDaesung’s car accident, died from Daesung’s collision. As a result, the police will be making a dispatch to charge him without detention.”
On this day, the Youngdeungpo police held a press conference revealing their investigations and confirmed that there was only a 132 second window between the first accident and the collision with Daesung’s car. They revealed, “There was only about two minutes between his motorcycle accident and Daesung’s accident, so we have determined that Hyun did not die in that time frame. There were not a lot of cars on the road and the speed limit was 60km/h, but we discovered through the taxi’s video that he was speeding at 70 to 80 km/h.”
When asked to confirm whether there was a previous hit-and-run accident, police stated,“It has nothing to do with the case. There weren’t a lot of cars on the road at the time, and his alcohol level was 0.186. It has nothing to do with a hit-and-run.”
With confirmation that Hyun was killed by Daesung’s car, what Daesung will be charged for is currently unknown. The law currently states that he could be jailed for under five years, or pay a penalty of $20,000 USD.

| The police have decided that Daesung did, indeed, kill the motorcyclist. |
I love Daesung, but, at the same time, how would I react if he was just some random guy who did what he did? All of these VIPs who are screaming "we support Daesung" would probably support a punishment for that. Should he be given a lesser sentence due to his celebrity status? Who would support that?I know that the most common defense one might hear is, "Oh, it was an accident! Daesung did not mean to do it, therefore he deserves a lesser punishment." Of course, the problem with this is simple: regardless of his intentions, his actions ended another person's life. Not only that, but he was speeding; I know that many people may over look this, but this does demonstrate that he was not being responsible.
